In the Netherlands, you can search for a home online or through a real estate agent. Popular websites are Funda, Pararius, and Kamernet. You can also check housing corporations for social housing.
Note: many landlords require an income requirement. You often need a permanent contract or a guarantor. Also, registering with a housing corporation is mandatory for social housing.
The rental contract and costs
A rental contract is an agreement between you and the landlord. It states the rent, the duration, and the conditions. Read the contract carefully before signing.
In addition to the rent, you often pay service costs for gas, water, and electricity. Sometimes the rent includes these costs. Always ask what is included in the rent.
